Meeting Venue and Travel Information

Our Fourth Annual Meeting was held in the Gürzenich Congress Center, in Cologne, Germany. The Gürzenich is a 500 year-old congress center in the Old Town area, across the street from the InterContinental Hotel. The Gürzenich has always been a place were people meet and celebrate and to this day stands as Cologne's most popular location for special events.

Cologne itself is both an ancient and progressive city. The wife of the Emperor Claudius was born on the banks of the Rhine and elevated her "Colonia" to the status of a city in the year 50 A.D. Today, traces of the Romans are still to be found at every turn in Cologne. Rich with history and culture, Cologne is well known for its social tolerance and commitment to technological advancement. Cologne is a leading center for the training of young scientists and the city's higher education sector provides specialist courses ranging across the whole academic spectrum. With over 63,000 students, the Universität zu Köln is Germany's largest university, including home to the Centre for Molecular Medicine.
