Joint Molecular Imaging Conference

September 8-11, 2007
Providence, Rhode Island, USA

Download BrochureThe annual meeting environment encompassed various in vivo and in vitro imaging methods, including discussion of optical imaging, ultrasound, CT, PET, SPECT, MRI, multi-modality imaging, new molecular imaging agents and probes and the application of imaging to drug development. Thank you to those who joined us to explore the present and future status of cellular and molecular studies in the context of the whole organism.

Pre-Conference Symposium
The 2007 meeting featured a Pre-Conference Symposium on Clinical Molecular Imaging and was jointly sponsored by the RSNA, AMI, SMI and SNM. The Pre-Conference Symposium provided an introduction and overview of molecular imaging to radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, oncologists, cardiologists and other physicians and trainees with a clinical interest in molecular imaging. Additionally, two distinct tracks within the Pre-Conference Symposium focused on clinical PET and PET/CT imaging for physicians, technologists and administrators.

Accreditation
The Radiological Society of North America designates this educational activity for a maximum of 23.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Who Attended?
The audience of the JMIC consisted of researchers, clinical practitioners, trainees and other professionals in radiology, neuroradiology, neuroscience, oncology, nuclear medicine, cardiology, medical physics, cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, immunology and medical imaging equipment companies.

Educational Objectives:

  • Explain methods of target identification and probe development for disease targets.
  • Describe effective approaches to cancer and cardiac disease detection and outcome measures.
  • Describe current state-of-the-art detection and outcome measures of neurodegenerative disorders.
  • Compare data from various molecular imaging modalities that demonstrate significant advantages of different imaging strategies.
  • Evaluate the potential of new imaging methods to detect disease early in its course and recognize when there is the potential for improved outcome.
  • Describe the new imaging paradigms in drug discovery and development.
  • Recommend imaging and therapy combinations.
  • Appraise the role of molecular imaging in cellular, stem cell, and gene therapies.
